| After dicking around with several 1911's that won't work, I've desided I want a 9MM DA/SA handgun. Beretta 92 F/S, HK USP, SigSauer P226.Which do you perfer and why? |
| Hello I have found a little 9mm that I really like , it is an Astra A-75 . It is Double Action single stack 8 rds compact and VERY reliable . I had an A-70 9mm that was good but if you "milked " the trigger for accuracy it would sometimes double , so I got this A-75. I know some may poo poo Astra and there are differant machine cuts on differant slides "Finger grips and a little thined down slide on mine ,but as far as I know the differances are cosmetic . I belive it is based on the SIG principal ,lock up wise but im not that familiar with Sigs. It shoots OLIMPIC , WOLF , and other assorted bulk type ammo no failuers of any kind 124/ 115 grs. doesn't seem to matter at all and I can hit cans at ranges that are considered WELL out of pistol range (9mm). |
| Cant speak for any of those except the Sig. The Sig is a hell of a gun. I own 3, one of which is my duty weapon. I've owned a 228 for 8 years, put thousands of rounds through it at had ONE malfunction. The slide failed to lock on an empty mag. I trust my life with the Sig Saur |

You said you want a DA/SA I know but consider the double acton Khar series of 9mm. I cant say enough about them. I have had a P-9 for a year and it's ergonomics and ease of concealment blow me away. I also consistanly out shoot my duty Glock 22 with it. Food for thought. I promise I dont work for Khar. |
I carry an Astra A-100, same gun in a .45, and it runs hollow point, reloads, Wolf or millitary ball without fail. Works for me. |
Agree. I'll add that the difference in grip size often plays a significant factor between the Sig and the Beretta. With that said, you're on the right track though, either of those models would make an outstanding choice -- ultimately reliable and above average accuracy. |

As mentioned, the hi-caps for the Beretta are a bit cheaper & easier to find than the P-226 mags. Both are premium quality guns. Obviously the P-226 has no mechanical safety. I own 3 H&Ks so obviously I prefer them. Accuracy will be better than any production gun you can buy. My .o2 |
