Which full size .45 would you choose ? I'm a 1911 and a .45 type of guy but i was wondering which of the following would you be most likely to own.

SIG P220

I dont particularly like double-stack guns, especially .45s.

None of the above.

H&K USP but only if I can get an H&K USC to go with it.

Gonna get a Ruger kp345pr next month.  I held one the other day and it really fits the hand very well.

Plus (besides my 1911), I have a Ruger Blackhawk convertable model with 45 colt and 45 ACP cylinders.  A single action is not what your were thinking, but a full size 45 it is.

I have had a USP .45.  The one I would rather have than a 1911 is the P220.  It is the closest in function and not as bulky.

I've got a USP 9, and the thing that attracted me to it is that it's controls are virtually identical to the 1911 and colt woodsman that I already have.  However, it does give the option of a decocker, and a DA trigger in case you ever need it.  It's a solid piece that should give you a lifetime of service.  That said the DA trigger pull SUCKS!  Of course if you get the tactical or elite you'll get the match trigger.  Or the match trigger is an 80 to 100 dollar aftermarket add on.

I like the Sig, it's a solid piece, but I liked the HK a little better, and it was my first foray into the world of polymer pistols.

USP 45.

P220 without a doubt.

i don't get it.  i don't see any choice for Kimber .45

ETA:  if i had to choose from the listed options it'd be HK USP.  I've spent some time with these and like them.

From those listed, the USP.45
I do like the P220, great gun.
Why is the 1911 missing ?

My first choice would be a 1911. Out of the five you listed I have shot three of them. That being the Glock, Sig 220 , and the Ruger. My second choice would be the Sig.

I think he's asking "other than a 1911, ..." - at least that's how I read it.

I've shot all those listed at one time or another except the H&K (I've shot their 9mm & .40S&W, but not a .45).  I believe I would be happy with any of them but the G21.  I'm not a Glock-hater (G19 is my usual CCW gun), but the G21 is just too big for my hands (6'3", size 13 feet, teeny-tiny-girly-hands - go figure! ).  The only one of those listed that I currently own is a S&W (645, to be exact).  It has served me well for many years & I shoot well with it, so I voted S&W.

P220.  I'll have to admit that I like the Ruger, especially for people who don't have a lot of money.

I have a G21, HK USP45, and Sig P220 and of the three the Sig is my favorite to shoot.  All three shoot well and I am accurate with them all but the Sig just fits my hand best and feels best.

I like my 1911's but I prefer the Sig over them for defense purposes.

Why did you leave out the 1911-A1's?
6/24/2004 4:45:45 PM EDT

My second choice would be your first. P220
6/24/2004 4:46:46 PM EDT
[#20]
HK or Sig

SIGs seem to made for my hands.

P220
6/24/2004 8:47:43 PM EDT
[#25]
Glock Kimber or Colt for me
6/24/2004 9:14:35 PM EDT
[#26]
P220, then the USP.

I like the P220 as well, hoewever, of the choices you gave, I like the Smith & Wesson 1911 (which I happen to own) as well. Out of the box, it is very accurate and shoots very well. A number of my range buddies have purchased their own and have remarked on how good they are for the price. Most compare it to their Kimber 1911's.

IF there were no 1911's available I would choose either the Sig 220 or the USP.  I have owned a USP 45  it was a nice pistol but HK magazines are just too damn spendy

Again, I believe he meant to specifically exclude all 1911s & the "S&W" choice in the poll was for the 645, 745, 4506, etc.

ETA:  Not flaming - I just think you misunderstood.

Of the choices you gave. It would be the Sig. P220

USP 45 would be my first choice, followed very closely by the P220.

H&K will be THE most accurate .45 you can buy aside from the custom 1911s. The Ruger will take a beating on resale.

Spingfield Armory 1911A1 "Loaded" in S/S......
I own it!  Great weapon.

Sorry, I guess he didn't really clarify that, did he?

Anyway, I think my post was valid since I mentioned the P220.
