I have kept a S&W 457 in the night stand for a very long time. I put it in a cheap uncle mikes holster that also holds an extra mag. I picked up a beretta PX40 (in .40) and a small light that mounts on the rail. Also has a lazermax mounted too. Kind of heavy and bulky to carry so I figure I'ld put this one in the niight stand because on the mounted light and all. Should I look for a holster for it or just lay it on a cloth? Don't not it flying around in there anytime I open the drawer.
So question is look for a special holster or get a towel and quit worrying? (Sorry for such a deep question this early in the morning |

Well, my EDC (1911) gun rests vertically in the nightstand drawer, still in it's holster. But, I've now dedicated a second handgun to almost permenant bedside duty, I feel it's better suited.
I've got an XDm 9mm with 3 full 19 round mags and a bright fighting light in a sling type bag hanging from the bedpost. I can slip that bag over one shoulder (mandatory), grab my pants and slippers (optional) and go for a walk. The bag has a dedicated gun pocket, with a velcro'd in gun retention system, and four vertical outside sleeves. It has a second internal pocket, I"m thinking of adding a couple more items to that pocket (pepper spray? first aid? hell, chapstick?) I can't find the exact bag online, but I bought it at Sportco, and I've seen it at a couple other big sporting goods stores. Here are links to a couple similar bags. Try this... Or look here for many options from Maxpedition. After looking more, I think my bag is a Maxpedition, but must be an older model. |

I bought this Boyt gun case for my pistol to use instead of the plastic gun box.
http://www.boytharness.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=31_25&products_id=204 Now I use it for the gun I keep in my nightstand. It has a nice cloth interior to prevent the gun getting scratched and has pockets for mags and accessories. I keep it in the drawer closed but not zippered. |
