I started a thread a few weeks ago. You might want to try to search that. Armscorp/Citadel might work.
If I remember correctly: the consensus was they are some of the best-built 1911's coming from the Phillippines. Guys seem to be waiting for others to buy and test. The price seems reasonable. |

For their price range they are good pistols. I shot one few weeks ago and almost bought it they shot well. The overall fit and function is good for the price they fall into.
I do not like the MSH how it was not flush fit into the frame, and the sights were not contoured to the rounded top of the slide. |

Might wish to do a "wait & see", IMO. I haven't seen any good guns come from the Philippeans. Take the same $$$ & buy a gently used Springfield or some better brand's gun. My .o2 O RLY? Have you handled or shot any? I have yet to see a bad review on a RIA, and so far nothing but praise for the Citadels. I just got a NIB Citadel about 2 wks ago. Traded my well-used Sig P220 for it, and couldn't be happier. Great trigger, very nicely fitted, far more accurate than I am, and eats everything I've fed it. Will be CCW'ing it once I get my CHL. |

Shot several, handled multiple of guns made in PI. Wide spectrum of quality, but even the so-called "top tier" of PI guns are both A) limited in quantity; & B) still not all that hot. Let someone buy a Citadel, shoot it for a year or so & then sell it. See what kind of resale value he/she gets when compared to the original price as well as to a comparable SA, Kimber, Colt, etc. Resale value is where the rubber meets the road on gun value, IMO. We can all have our own bias' (and do), but resale value normally doesn't lie, IMO. I'm not saying the Citadel is a POS, but it's by no means a Springfield/Kimber/etc. in the same price range is all I'm saying. As a novice gun buyer in the middle 1980s, I got burned a time or two in a gun that had no where near the quality it should've had for the $$$. I just wanted to urge someone to use caution when buying a 3rd World country-made gun. |

Extremely subjective to individual tastes and definitions. I would not purchase one, but that's just me. |

My .o2 You must have some inside info on where to buy "gently used" SA's, Colts and Kimbers. I've not seen one for less than $600 in a compact. I have an R.I.A. GI that has been 100% since I adjusted the extractor. I do agree it will not have the resale of a Colt or SA but then it didn't cost as much initially. Given my choice for a compact it would be a Colt Defender. I had an SA Micro .45 and it had the worst trigger I've ever had on a 1911. Andthat was an $1100 pistol, not a $485 pistol. |
| How about the fact that some of us don't give a damn about resale value. For the most part, I have no intention of selling the guns I own. Who cares that some poor asshole is willing to pay $1k+ for a used Kimber, that's called a sucker. I don't plan on selling anything I currently own, nor do I (usually) buy used guns so resale value is meaningless to me. |

Yes, the trigger is in the 5lb~ range, which is no surprise for a single action carry piece. One should not have a crisp, 3lb trigger on a carry piece, IMO. As for "inside info", not at all. I haunt the gun shows & Gunbroker web site. I bought my Micro at a local gunshop & paid full retail for it, but I've seen some used ones pop up from time to time. Personally, my life is worth more than a $400 carry gun. YMMV.

Everyone I know and shoot with that bought RIA's, or already owned them have had few to no problems. In fact, I've witnessed more problems with higher end guns, ESPECIALLY Kimber. Of course it is not the quality of a Wilson or Night Hawk, but it was 400 bucks! |

BobCole- My Micro had an 8.5lb trigger pull when we measured it. The fit was just OK. It was pretty accurate and after break in would feed reliably. But for the money I much prefered my Colt. And for $1100 I expected much better quality.
Most shooters like it or not, are not running 10K through their 1911's. Especially these days. For the money the R.I.A's are a good buy and can be upgraded with standard 1911 parts. For me, I'd always prefer a Colt, but it has to be a good deal. Springfields without considerable work, are not acceptable. At least the ones I've looked at. |

Quoted: Sorry, but that's simply false. On 5" guns, the extractors seem to be suspect and probably won't retain tension, but that's about the only across the board problem I've ever heard Springfield's consistently having. I have 3 of the 5" guns and have one with an extractor that needs replaced. Other than that, they've been great. I have one off at Miller Custom right now, but that's because I wanted some extra goodies on it, not because it wasn't reliable.Springfields without considerable work, are not acceptable. On topic, the good news out there about the guns coming from the Philippines is hard to ignore. I actually can't remember hearing anything bad about them. They're supposed to be reasonably accurate, reliable, and the Customer Service is supposed to be awesome as well. If it's just going to be a plinker, it should be a great gun for that. I'd buy something else if your ass will depend on it, though. |

My Champion is my off duty carry weapon. So it's not that I don't like them. Another officer bought a new Champion and again, the trigger was crap. The fit was certainly not better than my R.I.A. G.I. and it had FTF's. My Micro .45 had the same dragging crappy trigger and fit problems. I just looked at a new G.I. and had the same issues. Don't know how it would feed but trigger and finish problems should not be there.
I'm sure they are not all that way but I keep finding them. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one but Colt is still king so far as I'm concerned. |

I guess I've been lucky. The Loaded I bought new had a heavy trigger, but not horrible. The second Loaded I bought has a nice, 4lbs trigger. Couldn't ask for a better one. The third was a GI that was given to me by my brother. Probably a 5lb trigger, but no creep. The last is my GI Champion lightweight that I picked up is at around 5lbs, with a slight amount of creep. I've been pleased with the triggers that have come in the Springfields, save that first Loaded. But that one is getting modded anyways. |

1911's are a gun you gotta bring home and live with a while. You either love them or hate them. I love mine, but I didn't know that before I had one. Why not buy a 4-500 dollar brand to start with and see what happens. A 200 dollar Firestorm caused me to love them. Don't worry, you will buy more! |

http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_590/products_id/56897 First one is the SA GI model at 518 Second one is the Citadel at 480 Now if the citadel was like $400 I could maybe see it, but I'll pay the marginal difference anyday.. |
