| SA Champion. its the barrel size you want and they are not that expensive. I love carrying my 1911 every day. It serves me well and I trust my life to it. Nice part about Springfield is they live up to their product and if you ever want to add stuff to it there are tons of things you can do to it. Easy to carry, amazing to shoot, fires every time i pull the trigger. So yeah SA Champion is my vote. |

I'm either looking into a P229 or 4/4.25" 1911. I enjoy the P229, but would prefer a .45 caliber. If i can find my dream 1911 ill go with it, but wouldn't be at all sad ending up with a 229 I'm looking for a 4/4.25" A1 frame 1911. No frills, just reliability. I would also like to keep the cost around that of a P229. If the 1911 im asking for ends up being considerably more, ill just go with the sig The only 1911s I've found that fit my criteria are RIA, Springfield, and para. Are there others? Which would you choose out of the 4 (P229, RIA, Spring, Para) and why? Any input is appreciated Something nice to look at: http://www.impactguns.com/store/media/springfield/spg_32587.jpg of those 4: i'd keep the P229 if you already have a reliable carry gun, imo, there is no reason to change unless its unreliable; if you had to get a .45acp, i would opt for a 1911 (or G30...), in fullsize/true commander size format––of your choices, the Springfield hands down |
| I've got a 229 in .40 SW that I've carried at times, it's bulky. Also have carried commander sized .45's, found them a little big too. Finally picked up a Colt defender, carry it in a Supertuck holster, it doesn't print, not too uncomfortable in a car, and .45 makes it a win for me. Personally, I can't carry a big gun while driving my car, and don't want to have to unholster/reholster the gun while entering or exiting a vehicle, but maybe I'm missing something here? |
