Two years ago I bought my wife a 9mm M&P.  She liked the way it shot but I noticed she kept adjusting her grip after each shot so I bought a stippled backstrap grip.  I bought it from another member from the M&P forums.  Recently, I acquired a pink removeable backstrap grip from S&W.  She liked the pink grip but wanted it stippled since she had gotten used to it.  I decided to give it a try but wanted to practice to get my technique down.  I bought a few extra grips for testing and decided to give it a try.  It turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be and I managed to burn myself only twice.

I used a standard soldering iron with a pointy tip from Radio Shack.  I used light strokes trying not to move too slow.  I went back over a few of the lines when I wasn't happy with the way they came out.  When I was done, I lightly went over the grip with some medium grip sand paper to remove some of the sharper points.

My wife's M&P

The other 'victims'.  Original bought grip on left, others are mine.

Started with a line, ETA-I didn't try to make the lines squiggly, I'm just not artistically skilled

Started making a pattern

Started filling in between the lines

Halfway done!

Here she is next to my new M&P .40
