Hi guys!

This past summer I sent my DA/SA HK45C to Bill Springfield for a trigger job. He reduced the DA trigger pull perfectly however the SA trigger pull is now a little too light for my preferences. Essentially I am not use to such a light SA trigger pull and cannot shoot it accurately.

I replaced the hammer spring in an effort to restore the trigger pull but all it did was add more weight to the DA trigger pull with little or no change in the SA trigger pull. Does anyone know how he reduces the SA trigger pull? He just removed a couple of coils from the hammer spring for the DA reduction.

I would like another pound or two back to the SA trigger pull.

Ideally I would like to have the DA trigger pull about where he had it while also adding more to the SA trigger pull. If push comes to shove though I can live with the hard DA trigger pull more than I can live with the light SA trigger pull. If anyone could PLEASE help I'd greatly appreciate it. I love the gun and don't want to have to trade it off.

Anyone?

I E-Mailed him and he said the hammer spring which is what I replaced. What spring regulates the SA trigger pull most?

Mainspring gives the most pressure on a DA trigger pull, IMO. Probably SA pull too.

Bill Springfield did one of my USP's & I thought it was a HUGE waste of my hard earned $$$$, IMO.

I feel the opposite, Bill has done 2 of my LEM's and they are the smoothest triggers i have.  I scored a 295/300 against Mas Ayoob at LFI III.  I carry it much of the time for CCW.

I have never sent him any pistols, but he is a wizard on single stage AR triggers.  I have three of his 4# jobs, and all of them are great.

The main hammer spring is the main component that determines how difficult a trigger pull is.  does it look like he changed the geometry between the hammer and the sear?

Have it returned to "stock" specs and put a few thousand rounds through her. I did that with my USP 9 and can tell there is a HUGE difference between the USP 9 which has over 3K rounds through her and the new/used USPC 40 which has barely had 200 rounds through her.

You'll get a lot of recommendations for spring swaps, but IMO spring tension primarily affects the DA, and will have very minimal if any affect on the single action pull.

I'm not familiar with Bill's work, but I would have to assume he stones the fire control components, reducing engagement surface area and/or angles.

I think the only way to put it back to stock is to replace the sear, hammer and any other parts he modified.  I have a bunch of spare P2000 parts, but nothing for a 45c or I'd send you some.

You can order the parts directly from HK (I've done this many times) or from other vendors such as HKparts.net, etc.

Yeah that pretty much answers my question. If I decide to keep the gun I will do that but I am considering trading it to another Sig P220. Sigs have always worked for me so I think that may be the route.
