[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Night Sights

Do I need night sights on a carry gun? If their hi contrast white vs black is that ok? Forgive the noobness all of my existing have night sights just wondering if I need to spend the $$$ on the next rig.

My Kimbers came with them, and while they are nice and do help. Mine are Meprolight's, they are green not white. If nothing else, I find they make it very easy to find the gun laying on the night stand in the dark. Really,they do make getting the sights on target in low light situations, they are on my carry gun. So, for me, I like them. I'm sure others are going to chime in on this one......

carry gun, yes. if it's your 'carry' gun, you never know when it'll become necessary. say you're in a dark room or it's dusk or who knows... maybe on your night stand. the high contrast black / white don't work worth a damn in the dark.

I say yes also I have nights sights on most all my pistols. If they are target range pistols only they may not but some do. Plus night sights are not break the bank expensive and in most cases easy to install on most pistols.

There are different schools of thought on the subject of whether they're absolutely necessary on a defensive sidearm or not.

They are at least an advantage, nothin' wrong with havin' 'em.

Yep. I always put them on my carry or bedside pistols.

Of all of the possable mods on a gun, I would rate this the MOST important. I have Trijicons on all of my pistols, even my range only .22.

If you ever need that gun you should have any advantage possable. Night sights are just a manner of giving you that edge.
