I posted this over in the accessories section but that section seems to move kinda slow so I thought I'd post it here as well

Which pelican case should I buy? I have a 5.11 rifle bag that I carry my AR and pistol in when I go to the outdoor shooting range but when I want to shoot indoors I have nothing. It would be for a full size 1911 and 8-12 mags and a 22lr conversion slide and 4 22lr mags, i would also like to have some misc things below the handgun such as eye protection, ear plugs, tools, ammo things like that, so I would only have to take my pelican case and ammo can to the range and be good to go. Im stuck between the pelican 1450,1500 and the storm im2450, any suggestions? (pics would be AWESOME) thanks guys

oh and I would also be using the foam cutting tutorial to customize my case foam :)

Padwan,

gun cases are like gun safes.  Get the largest you can since you will eventually fill it up.  you can look at a breakdown shotgun case or similar in size.

i got a cheap "Gun Guard" case that will hold 6 guns and mags if i stuff it.    holding 4 guns is a POC.  you wont get any muffs in there tho.

i made a gun carry case for 8 guns and it was too small the next range trip.  im trying to figure out a design for adjustability from 2 to maybe 12.

Sounds like what you really want is a range bag to keep all your shooting accessories in, and carry a pistol or two at the same time.

I find hard cases rather bulky and too static in their configuration.  I'd rather have a range bag that has a couple pistol pouches, mag pouches, and various other pockets, instead of a cutout foam insert for earmuffs or whatever.

Personally I carry a big rangebag and leave all my stuff in it.  My guns are protected by gunsocks while in the safe, and I just keep them in the gunsocks while they're in the rangebag.
