I`m interested in any info anyone has on these pistols.

What has been your experiance with reliability, accuratcy, even any history as to why they didn`t catch on.

I know they were made between `90 and `97,,,but that is about all.

Any info is appreciated.

Not much help, but owning one in 10mm auto might prove to be worth something someday.

I vaguely remember rumors of some kind of reliablility problem and supposedly they did not have that great of a trigger.

The Double Eagle is a POS. It combines all the common 1911 problems with a DA first shot.

The ONLY advantage of the 1911 design which is a good SA trigger that is consistant is gone on the Double Eagle.

There is a good reason they did not sell very well.

They make great paperweights, that's about all they're good for it seems.

The self-ejecting trigger springs when you removed the grips was kind of a cool feature

The most common complaints I've always heard:

- The DA trigger system is fragile, overly complicated, and poorly located

- The trigger pull was much too heavy

- No holsters available for it

Colt managed to correct most of the problems but by then most handgunners wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole.

Of course, then there was the Model 2000, another of Colt's "modern combat pistol" fiascoes.
