I am wanting to cast some heavy 9mm bullets.  I can't get a mold that gets the bullets as heavy as I want for a 9mm but I can get one in a .357.

I am looking at this mold. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=563717

This are tumble lube bullet, I have shot several of them in 9mm 124 gr and love them but I would like just a bit heavier bullet for shooting action steel matches.

9mm is strictly speaking .355" while .357 is just that.  That .002" might make a bit of a difference.  And with the heavier bullets you will lose powder capacity so you might have more weight for the steel but not enough velocity.

I don't know that much about bullet casting, but it seems reasonable that you could cast .357 bullets and then run them through a .355 sizing die.

Don't know for sure that sizing them would even be necessary.  There is a fair chance that they are going to cast .356 and if that is the case I don't think that will be an issue.  I just didn't know if anyone else had tried anything like this before.

Well, it might work.  The 158 like that is design to seat deeper than a 9mm slug.  You will have to seat it deep enough but still be not too long to fit in a mag and feed. The other thing is running them through a .355 sizer might be a little tough.

Have you thought about 9mm 147s?

Yeah, that is what I want but Lee does not make 6 cavity molds for them.
