I walked into the PX today with the full intention of buying another gun. I found two that I liked. The only hole it needs to fill in my armory is that of a concealed carry weapon. The two are the HK P2000 in 9mm and the Para LDA in .45. I already have a full size Taurus 1911 but it's too big for concealed. Both of them fit wonderfully in my hand and the price difference is less then a $100.

What's the good and the bad on both of these fine weapons?

Those are really different platforms.  My preference is for the HK because the only time I've ever had a malfunction with one was due to a spent casing landing back in the ejection port after bouncing off a lane divider.

Also, before you buy anything you might want to check out a P30. More expensive but it appears to be leagues ahead of the P2000 in ergonomics.

No question in my mind between the two listed.

The P2000 is a pretty good handgun.

The PARA, on the other hand, is not. As a concealed carry piece, buy the H&K and learn to use it. Do not bet your life on a Para.

Ever.

Indeed the P2000 is a great pistol, by all accounts.  Especially with the LEM trigger, if possible.

The Para, on the other hand, with the LDA trigger, I do not like. They relieve so damn much of the starboard side frame rail to accomodate their trigger draw bar, I've never liked that.  The LDA system seems weak, from a mechanical standpoint, and is according to many reports easily damaged.

Haven't heard this kind of stuff about the P2000.

Definitely go with the HK, of your two choices.

Over whelming support for HK. It was my understanding that Para's were actually good guns. Does anyone have a link so I can possibly read more about them?

I was leaning towards the HK myself, but the Para was in a close second.

Para is a shit company. Many moons ago, I was one of their biggest non-commissioned salesmen, letting everyone try mine. My satisfaction with Para led me to a second and final purchase. Turns out that this one was a complete and total piece of crap, and my experience with the pistol, (and the replacement, and the second replacement), their warranty station, and their customer service turned their salesman into one of their most vocal detractors.

Para prices itself in the mid-high end of production pistols, but they can't compete with quality, so they rely on gimmicks. These gimmicks (widebody 1911s, LDAs, PXTs) are all solutions to problems that don't exist at best. Meanwhile $600-$800 gets you plastic, a fistful of poorly finished MIM, A cast frame (often with voids), and an improperly heat treated slide if SS. But then again you are Getting the X-Treme Hawg with "sooper sculptured" alien sex toy frontstrap.

Fuck Para in the face.

HK.  Mine are rock solid.  LEM trigger is great for a concealed carry piece...every trigger pull the same.

I'm a guy who is firmly in the 1911 camp.   Of those, I'd get the H&K.
