| i found a USP 40 at the fun show today for $570 in excellent condition. this seemed like an awesome deal to me, but i didn't have the cash at the time. is this such a good deal that i should go back tomorrow with cash or i can USPs be found for this cheap often? |
| Also, keep in mind that H&K only warrantees the gun to the first owner. Unfortunately, H&K also prioritizes it's civilian customers lower than the military and law enforcement customers. (Big mistake IMHO) Once the warrantee expires, you drop even further down there list. |
| $570 isn't a bad price if it's in excellent condition. Also, keep in mind that H&K only warrantees the gun to the first owner. | My source was the H&K dealers that I talked to before ordering my USP 9. I spoke with 8 dealers price shopping before ordering my USP9, and asked every one of them about H&K customer service, and every one of them told me that as company policy H&K prioritizes Military and Law Enforcement customers over the civilian market. They also told me that H&K gives priority to warranted guns over unwarranted ones. Some said that H&K was difficult to work with. Some said that H&K only had occasional problems getting parts, and others said that service was fine. ALL said that H&K prioritizes Mil. and LE customrer over civilian. I'm not knocking H&K. Like I said, I just ordered one. While I've never had to deal with the customer service personally, I'm just parrotting what the dealers told me. It seemed like this theme was repeated too many times not to take it seriously. IM me if you want the names and numbers of the dealers. |

That's good... I'm glad to hear it. Hopefully, if I ever need anything I'll have the same experience. Repeating myslef... Some said their only difficulty was that H&K occassionally had difficulty getting parts others said that there service was fine. Their policy and good customer service are not mutally exclusive and shouldn't scare people away. Hell, most firearms aren't warranted past a year or two, or to the successive owners. It's just something to be aware of. If push comes to shove, they prioritize the military and LE over civilian. Chances are push won't come to shove. One dealer told me that he's been waiting almost 20 yrs. for a a new firing pin for his personal VP70. I doubt that would happen with a USP if for the simple fact that there are more USP's floating around than VP70's. But, it is something to be aware of. |
