Guys,
I have a friend who purchased a NIB Ruger SP101. Every once in a while when you pull the trigger, something prevents a full pull on the trigger and the gun won't fire. This can happen when the gun is loaded or unloaded. The hammer won't fall. I don't know much about revolvers. What could be causing this problem and has anyone else had a similar problem? Thanks

my advice: have Ruger or a reputable smith look at it

it couild be the hammer spring, spur, etc

could you be short stroking the trigger?

if you cant figure it out, i would send it back.

Not short stroking it. Three different shooters have had this happened with the same gun. Another guy said it could be hammer springs. I will send it back. Thanks guys!

Could also be the cylinder stop not engaging, so it'll seem like short stroking.

Sounds like your'e gonna send it back in.  Good deal.

Ruger has excellent customer service, they'll fix it and get it back to you pretty quickly.
