[ARCHIVED THREAD] - STI GP6

Does anyone here own or has handled / shot this gun? I've been contemplating buying the STI GP6. I want a full size 9mm and I've been impressed by all the reviews I've read about this gun. I already have an STI Spartan and I am very impressed with their guns. I know that the GP6 is made in Slovakia, but if STI puts their name on it, it's got to be a good gun.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Saw the big writeup in this months American Rifleman did you?

Honestly it looks very intriguing. And Slovakia generally has a very good arms industry.

Actually, I was interested in this gun before the American Rifleman article but the review did strengthen my position on buying this gun.

One of the guys I shoot IDPA with just got one. It is a very light recoiling, fast and accurate gun. The rotating barrel absorbs some of the recoil. The only 2 dislikes i could see are the safety is small and can be hard to remove and the lack of a decocker.

Lack of a decocker is odd certainly, though I'd never use one.
It's actually the ability to carry condition one that makes it more interesting than just another large cap 9.

I got to finger one at the Area 6 match last month. Felt OK––nothing earth shattering. It had a pretty long (but smooth) DA pull, but the single action pull was nice for a TDA.
