What's the advantage of using speed strips?

I don't get it...

When I carried a revolver I carried both.  A speed loader is fast if you practice a little.

A speed strip is much easier to control and load quickly than loose rounds.

A speed strip allows for top offs.  Say you fire two and there's a pause, you can push up the ejector (muzzle pointed down) about halfway, the empties will stay elevated when you release and it's really easy to pick the empties out and then top off with the speed strip.

For concealed carry a speed strip is a flat and small way to carry reloads.

When I carry a revolver off duty I usually use speed strip.

-They take up waaaaaay less room in your pocket. Speed loaders make me look lumpy.
-Speed Strips work with ANY brand of handgun, speed loaders are brand specific.
-You can load one, with a speed loader it's all or nothing.

If I have to carry extra rounds for my J frame, it's in Speed Strips.

So basically its a good way to organize ammo rather than a way to speed up reloads (other than the obvious fact that keeping the rounds organized will be inherently faster than carrying rounds loose in a pocket)?

Ummmmm...............no.
When I "organize" ammo I use boxes, when I carry a revolver I use speed strips because speedloaders are less concealable than strips.

Reloading from a speed strip is faster than not reloading from a speed strip. PLUS a speed strip carries SIX rounds. A J frame speedloader can only load five.

While reloading from a speedloader is almost always faster (depending on the model & skill of the shooter), there are disadvantages to carrying/using a speedloader:
- BULKY, as in fat, bulging, rattling plastic cylinders that require a belt carrier.
-Reliability, some will dump one or more rounds when you don't want them to.
-Noisy, they rattle
-Expensive. You need a different size for every frame and caliber.

The speed strips are flatter therefore easier to conceal, and "rattle" less when carried in a pocket.

Obviously the speedloaders are a bit faster.

I carry both for my own revolver.

both of the above...

both devices have one goal: keep ammo orgainzed and readily accessable to allow reloading; diff methods of specific application and carry

Carry a J frame everyday and you'll appreciate speed strips.

Speedstrips in the pants pocket, speedloaders in the truck, nightstand, and coat pocket.

Speed strips will allow you to load 2 rounds at a time. Insert two rounds, peel off.
