What's the point of this thing
www.hk-usa.com/pages/military-le/handguns/p2000.html Sounds like "Hey LEOs it's just like a Glock!" Anybody know anymore about this pistol or have any shooting impressions of it?

I fiddled with one at the Shot Show, but after you fiddle with about 950 guns in a day they kind of blend together.

They're starting to show up at the gun shows.  Tried one on for size at the last show.  Seems like a slightly modified compact USP.  Nothing wrong with that mind you but I don't see this at a great leap forward.  H & K autos in general just don't "work" for me.  Excellent piece of machinery, just not for me.

I handled one at a gun store in Houston ( collector's firearms ).  $1000 and I was underwhelmed.  Big deal, another polymer striker pistol.  Buy the walther p99, much cheaper, no consistent trigger pull on the standard model.  There is a consistent trigger pull on the DAO model.  Of course I think this whole DA/SA transisition issue is a bunch of horse shit.  No big deal going from DA to SA.

Anyway, the p99 is much cheaper.

Like most HK's, the p2000 is a solution in search of a problem.

I got one as a Christmas present and have had it to the range only once.  Put about 400 rounds through it.  The gun advertised by HK as being designed for concealed carry, however, I live in a commie state, so I can't give my opinion as to whether that is true or not.

The gun takes some getting used to.  The LEM trigger, for one thing, might be a hinderance in an emergency to get off another round.  I practiced the technique of letting off the trigger only slightly before pulling it again for follow up shots.  If I wasn't concentrating, I would let it out too much and have an unexpected DA trigger pull, upsetting the shot and missing wildly.

It seems that HK took the USP compact, shaved off the corners, added adjustable grip backstraps, curved the bottom of the magazine for better grip, and added the LEM trigger.  I'm going to keep it, for now.  Mine is in 9mm, which doesn't excite me all that much.

Either you did't look at it very weel, or you were looking at a different gun.

$1000 is too much for a P2000.

And second, it is NOT striker fired, it has a Hammer.
