| Those of you that have been delayed on your new gun how long was it. |
|
This will vary by state. Some states use NICS only, some combine their state database with NICS.
Generally speaking, I was always "approved" by the next day. They have up to 3 days to remove a "pending" & enter a "denied". You may then inquire about a denial if you choose. Usually this is a bureaucratic snafu, caused by a similiar name of some felon. Never mind the SSN's are different or the place of birth's are different. Goodness knows we can't confuse the minimum wage clerks running the checks...................

I come up delayed at least once a year(not sure why). Gun owners would be both amazed & infuriated at what causes delays in background checks (at least in TN). Having the same first & last name as a felon for example. Never mind having a different middle initial and/or DOB or entirely different SSN. Some minimum wage mouth breathing cretin will mark it as "delayed" until someone with a room temp IQ can come along & say, "Yep, they're two different people."

Going on day 4 I was told on day 8 they will sell me the gun if they don't hear anything WTF Odd, IMO. In TN they're required to give a yes or no within 3 business days of the original submittal. Then one can appeal the denial if in fact they're denied. Different states use the national NICS system, some use their own state system & others use a combination of the two. No clue what MN uses, sorry. Is your gun shop not being any help at all in this matter? |

We will call you when we know! But who cares NICE This was the gun shop? If so, I can kinda sorta understand them as they have NO control over the NICS check & it's out of their hands. OTOH, they could've been a bit more polite, IMO. Must be a yankee thing?
Hope you get an answer soon!

With my CCH permit in N.C. I can buy one and carry it right out the door after about 2 minutes of paperwork. And frankly, this is still a big kick. My wife and I have had our carry permits for about 8 mos. Prior to that we'd have to get a pistol permit from the Sheriff which took maybe a week at most. |
