| Anticipating my tax return here... leaning towards a HK usp 45... maybe a Kimber. something high cap, rugged, threaded barrel... What do you think? |

What are you doing with it? For carry in a high cap, I would recommend the XD. I still believe the best .45 is a 1911. I like Colt and Springfield. Threaded barrel, you are probably looking at an HK. Too big for my taste. SHTF weapon. Not carry. Funny you mentioned Marshall at CDN, I have ordered several guns thru him. |

If I had the money and intended to get a 1911 I'd get an Ed Brown. link

hicap:
the HK series is great *(Tactical would be my choice) Glock is another fine and more econmoical choice overall just about any 1911 is out since most are single stacks; i would NOT recommend any double stacked 1911s (save maybe STI), and i would pass on kimbers and consider Springfield, Colt, SW, Dan Wesson, etc before (due to prices and QC as of late) |

I just bought a new FN 45. Highest capacity of any 45 (15rds). If it's as good as all the reviews and current owners say it is I might get rid of my HK 45USP tactical. + you can shoot lead rounds through it, a no-no with the German and Austrian tupperware. Considering with casting my own bullets I can shoot .45acp for $2.50 a box. |

love the HK .45s. I have two USPs, they are identical...i like the first one so much i went back a week later and got a second as a spare. Some don't like the fat grip, i have small hands and it still doesn't bother me. Have not fired the FN, but love the 9 mm version and if the .45 is anything like that i would not be afraid to carry one. |

XD45
I've got an XD45 Tactical and like it a whole bunch...XD's are W-A-Y underrated IMHO. The only fault I could find with it was the trigger was a bit stiff right out of the box. they do get better after 200 - 300 rounds but I went ahead and sent mine off to Springer Precision for a trigger job. |

I absolutely love my USP45. I have had it since 1998 when my dad bought it for me for a christmas present. I have in the neighborhood of 30,000-35,000 rounds through it right now without a jam or other problem. The thing is boring reliable, and plenty accurate. The double action is somewhat heavy, but consistent, but the single action is sweet.

I would go with a HK compact .45
Basically full size and more concealable then the full size. I have owned both a Compact .45 and a Tactical .45, if you wan't a full size and not a compact then buy the tactical, you really can't go wrong with this as your selection. |
