I want to buy a fun handgun. Not for CC or home defence, just a nice looking, reliable, and accurate fun gun. I have $1200-$1300 bucks to spend. I own a XDm 40 and a XD9sc. I was thinking

1: 1911 (Kimber Pro Covert II / SA EMP / ect)
2: XDm 9

What are your thoughts on recommendations for a fun handgun. Thanks for any info.

Any semi-auto .22 or a Desert Eagle in .44 Magnum. You are in WA or I would say a suppressed .22 or 9mm, while you have the funds to do it you would have to go a state over to shoot it.

Being from MD I can appreciate dumb gun laws and this is certainly one of them, even here, knock on wood, they don't have that idiotic rule.

Since you're already a fan of the XD platform, I'd stick with it.

ETA: Spend the extra dough on mags and ammo.

Would also add a S&W Model 41 to the Alphaghost list.

Nice .22 handguns are definitely fun!

Smith & Wesson also makes some fun .22 revolvers if you are into that.

If you could shoot supressors in WA I would recommend a supressed .22.  But alas, Washington will only allow you to own the supressor and not shoot it.

I had no idea how much fun a supressor was until I got stationed in Georgia, where they make a lot of them.  To bad I can't use one if I move back to WA.  I'll have to drive to Oregon.

HK P7 - All my friends seem to enjoy shooting it, as do I.  You can get one from CDNN for around $500.

old single action revo 22LR w/ changable 22 mag cylinder from Heritage then w/ the left over $ get a nice S&W .357 revo then you can shoot .357 and .38 if SHTF you can hunt w/ all those combos, or if married get wife/kids used to a 22LR then move up to a .22mag
The 22 heritage combo is a inexpensive gun, I am thinking about it

Wow, a lot of people agree on the .22lr handgun as a fun gun.  The S&W model 617 is one .22lr handgun that I would love to have.

Eh, I wouldn't recommend a P7 as a fun range gun. They get far too hot in range-type situations. Perfect for carry and defensive use, though. (I myself carry a P7)

1911 with a Marvel .22 conversion kit. Best of both worlds and fun to shoot in both forms.

I have mine on my RIA 1911 clone while I am working on a Sistema doing some upgrades. When I go to the range I usually shoot about 200-300 rounds of .22 and then finish off with 50 rounds of .45 ACP.

When I finish installing all the ED Brown parts on the Sistema and refinish then that will be my primary frame for the Marvel.

The RIA was $269 a few years back on a Sunday at the gunshow and the Marvel was $300 straight from Marvel. The RIAs get a lot of grief but mine has been utterly reliable with ball ammo and decently accurate. I get 3-4 inch groups at 10 yds with it in .45 and the Marvel is scary accurate. It shoots about 2 inches at 10 yds with the fairly heavy RIA trigger. I expect it to shoot half that when I get it on the Sistema after the trigger work it has had.

You can get quite a lot of 1911 for $900-1000 and that will leave enough for the Marvel kit.

I took that into consideration and still think it's fun.  Mine doesn't get hot until after about 8 mags.  Then I shoot something else while it cools and then go back at it.

To me 22lr guns aren't that 'fun'.  I would call them 'cheap fun'.  I end up just getting bored shooting 22 and I start to not care about shot placement.

.357 Magnum.  Desert Eagle is a jamomatic in revolver calibers.  You already have aq good .45 a a good 9mm, try something completely different.  Someone will suggest that you find an auto in .357 Sig, but the choice of loads is much better for the revolver.
