I got a new Ruger SR 9 for christmas.  I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with them, mine will load another round into the chamber, but the slide stops about 1/4 inch before closeing fully.  All you have to do is push it with your finger just a touch and it will close and shoot.  But it does this 15 out of 17 times.  What kind of ammo has anyone been shooting with it.  Let me know what you think it might be.

Have you tried different brands of ammunition?

Does it do this with both mags?  Different ammo?

If you're capable, I'd remove the extractor and try cycling rounds or snap caps and see if that doesn't fix it.  If that fixes it, the extractor has an improper radius, not allowing the cartridge rim to slide under the hook properly.

I hear Ruger has fairly good CS, you may have to send it in.

Good luck.

Let the slide fly, don't drop it slowly it needs a slam to chamber the roud

He's saying that while firing  it won't go into battery. Not simply loading the first round.
