Ive been searching and can't seem to find any stickies of " What i need to do when buying a used gun" Bill or sale forums? How to know its not a Hot gun....etc

Any help or links would be great.

ETA You can contact your state police about the trace. But if you have suspicions, walking away might be the wisest course of action.

Well what I have done in the past is do a bill of sale stating the who,what and how much on what date and had local PD/SO do a check then have it signed by a witness aswell and should be good but check your local laws! Or go to a shop and have them mediate the transfer

Do you have a friend who is a police officer?  A friend of mine checks the police computer for me.

See that you got the form...still the weapon will be confiscated if it is later found to be stolen.

If a local FTF...you should be able to consult your local PD if you fear that it may be stolen.

No self-respecting crook will sell you the hot gun unless you are buying on the street. If you know the guys address and or name than this should be sufficient.
The hot guns are being used and duped in the river rather than sold.
