i have 2 1911's and a 3rd on the way so .45 is covered for a while. i have a glock 19 . i would like another 9mm pistol. the catch is, i have small hands and i'm in a ban state so hi caps must be preban. this gun has no real purpose except the range and plinking.
any suggestions as to which gun i should look at?

For a fun range plinker 9mm with good preban full-cap availability, I'd look at a Beretta 92fs (M9) and/or a SIG P226.

+1 after years of carrying a 1911 commander I finely found the one pistol I enjoy carrying.

Another vote for CZ-75, or a Sig P225. The Sigs are or were available as milsurp.

CZ-75 has been around a long time. You should be able to find preban mags.

If you want a silly choice... Get an HK VP-70z, I guarantee that ALL the mags available
for it are preban. LOL

always liked sigs and wanted a 226 but couldnt find preban mags. where can i find m9 prebans, p226 prebans or cz prebans. a local shop has 2 p226 prebans for 60.00 EACH!!!! rediculous

If you have small hands, neither the M9 nor the P226 is an ideal choice.  They both use double stack magazines and have very substantial grips.  Of course you should go hold one for yourself and see how they feel.

For a compact 9, I like the Sig P239, which has a single stack magazine.

M&P (or M&Pc) or Browning HP

I see trade in Beretta M9s all the time for under $400. rrarms has them for like $380 w/ 3 ten round mags.

My vote would be for a refurb Sig 226.

Why not get a CZ-52?
I don't know how they your hands, but its inexpensive, and 9mm barrels are available on the cheap. Don't have to worry about pre-ban mags, either.

I understand about having small hands because I am a 5'1" 105lb girl who has very small hands and have a hard time finding ones that fit me best.I just got a Sig P6/P225 that fits my hand perfectly.I was looking for something bit smaller to carry on a day to day basis and something that would feel good in my hand and found the Sig.It is a very reliable weapon and has a good price. If u don't mind buying a used gun then it might be something to look into getting.

Which CZ are you talking about? There's a big array of handguns to chose from. I have ordered two from http://www.ghostholster.com

It's the CZ custom shop and they are always super nice and easy to deal with.

If your a big 1911 fan and have small hands look at M&P, you can change backstraps for a smaller grip and it feels much like a 1911.  I picked on up a couple months ago for $450 with 4 mags and it is a great shooter.

ive narrowed it down to g17 or p226(the one with 6 preban mags for 675.00) . i have a few preban g17 mags and am used to shooting a g17. i also have owned sigs that i regrettably sold and am familiar with how good they are too. i hate decisions.
