I have long wanted a 1911 Long Slide (6 inch barrel), but they seem so hard to find. Now I discover Para-Ord is making one, but I'm a little hesitant with all the horror stories you see and read on Para quality........Any suggestions? Thanks |

I can't help with the Para, but I know there are some AMT Hardballers around for sell every now and then, but I hear some are Jam-O-Matics. Here is an Armscor 6", but I know nothing about them either. |

If I was in the market for another 1911 style pistol, I'd be willing to give Para a shot after watching the following vids. Todd Jarret shooting 1000 rds through a stock Para in 10 mins. one two three I'm happy with my plain ole 5" SA loaded 1911, so I'm spending money on different platforms these days. What is the fasination with the long slide? Terminator fan by chance? |
| There are lots of places to look at. Springfield will make one ground up or on a host gun for you, some custom outfits like Clark can make one, and you can get components from Caspian. Para longslide? Hell no. I'd get an iffy AMT before that. At least then I'd know I could get my money back on the EE rather than 1/2-2/3 of it. |

When you guys talk about building your own, is it as simple as buying a new slide and barrel and putting it on your existing frame? I'm sure there must be some advanced gunsmithing tools/skills needed? And yes, I'm definitely a Terminator fan, but really just looking for a different twist on my favorite handgun platform...... |
I have read your posts/threads under the Para section as well, and you make your opinion on Para pistols very clear!. As I stated I don't own a Para. Now, I do not want to sound insulting by any means, nor am I doubting what you say, but am just curious what you are basing your opinion on?.....Did you have a bad experience with one pistol?, or have you owned/shot/first hand knowledge of multiple Para pistol failures? Thanks!! |
| No offense taken. I was a very zealous fan of theirs until I purchased my last pistol from them. They had to replace it twice and #3 still had problems. I had seen from this 3 pistol experience Para's quality going from fair to garbage. I had seen their warranty station go from competant to abominable (claiming to fix things only to find after more $ at the range it wasn't, and it had to go back). I had seen their customer service go from top notch to shit. They even told me at one point they had to debate from an economic standpoint whether my business was worth another go at fixing it, and at another point when SHTF I was told in som many words not to send the pistol back for warranty work. As I came out with my problem, I started interacting with other disgruntled owners, comparing problems and realizing some fundamental manufacturing/QC issues with their line. There are way too many 1911 companies out there to accept anything less than adequacy, especially at their price point. They haven't figured that out yet |
