I finally got my police trade-in P6 (PW arms, made in 1980) to the range. I have not been shooting for awhile, so my skills were a limiting factor...but I found that the pistol was a good shooter. I only used FMJ RN ammo, some was PMC and some was Remington... A little over 100 rds...no malfunctions of any kind! It is a very nice pointer, easy to use, comfortable in the hand and good ergos! $300 well spent, and since it shows holster wear I don't have to feel shy about using it as a "beater"... |
| The P6 pistols were not fired that much. Mine was probally had less than a hundred rounds fired through it. I have shot about 400 rounds though it wiith no problems. I even shot gold dot +p through it. It is a very accurate pistol and is not a collectors item to me. I use it as my ccw weapon. |
![]() Do you think the German police used up all the magic fairy dust in the gun? $300 for a gun of this quality, that will give many, many more years and 10s of thousands more rounds of service, is a bargain. It's a gun, not a Ming vase. A little bit of holster wear and a thousand rounds or so and it's just getting broken in. |
When I stripped it down for initial cleaning I found a pistol that looked virtually unfired. The bolt face was perfect, the slide rails still had ALL of the original finish, the relationship of the major parts (slide/frame/bbl) showed NO play whatsoever. The mags still had almost all of the finish including the mag followers, indicating very little use. I would happily buy another one. This pistol is mechanically like new, and shows only carry wear. Besides, why are you so afraid of used guns? I have a P38 that survived WWII and still shoots like a dream. I don't shoot it alot for sentimental reasons, but I still take it out once or twice a year and enjoy shooting it. There are still lots of Lugers that are good shooters. Some of them are nearly 100 years old. Use as intended, maintain as needed...and don't worry about the mileage! |
Yeah, cuz any pistol over 30 years old is junk. Those metals like steel are so brittle and have no longevity I guess. That's sarcasm, in case you missed it. I keep wanting to get one of these pistols too. |
Does "K" stand for Kindergarten? Well stick around. You've just begun to get schooled.
Same here. Same here. |
buddy of mine has one, love the gun. Military just swapped over to the P229DAK, another awesome Sig. I am currently in the process of trying to find a P6 or P225(look alike 9mm). Did find one from German police at a local gun shop for $420. Still on the search though.

They are great collectors items, i believe they stopped importing them this year.
But with any SIG, Lifetime warranty on the weapon, send it back to SIG and they will re-coat, re-finish the barrel, load new springs , and give you 2 new magazines. I think there is a small cost but hey... they look and feel practically new even if they are 20+ years old.... |

I'm working out how to get my second one from www.DansAmmo.com. And I haven't even fired the one I just got. SO, other than 65dollar mags on Gunbroker ...anyone got alead or hear of any more coming. Paid 45dollars at a recent show around here. He had about eight of them. Picked out the best and made sure nobody knew which vendor had them. Found a Promag...yeah I know, ut it locks up fine. It was 15bucks. I think Henderson Defense is selling 3 choices of re-finished ones for 400. I think I saw this in the Industry section. |
