For those of you who have a P3AT, why does the hammer strike only the bottom half of the firing pin?  All the hammers on my other guns strike the entire back part of the firing pin.

You are correct!

I honestly never noticed that.
Important thing is that it always go pop (does'nt rate a boom) each time I pull the trigger.

So far, no problems with it going boom.  My guess is they needed to lower the hammer so it wouldn't stick out the back, or possibly it had something to do with force exerted if the hammer moved forward without the help of the trigger.  I don't know.
