Whats your guys stance on the FNP 9? I'm looking for a 9mm around $400 and just so happened to find one NIB below dealers cost... Ive narrowed it down from my long list of railed 9mm's and this looks like the best contender. I tried it out and it fit my hand well, but I haven't fired one before and was wondering what people have heard/seen as far as function and reliability. I'm not looking for a target gun here, just something for cheaper plinking and carrying (my 1911 is costly to feed, and its a hungry little carry gun). thanks in advance |

my buddy has one, we normally trade off quite a bit when we go shooting. First of all it is an FN, that should almost be enough for you to know it is good. I really like it. Fits the hand well, good capacity, decocker EDIT: I lied. Yesterday when we were shooting it was failing to lock back on an empty mag. He cleaned the piss out of it and it is good now, I don't think he had been doing a very good job of cleaning it. |

I got an FNP9 with night sights NIB for $500. I like the adjustable backstrap, it points great, I like the manual of arms, and the three 16rd mags are steel and seem durable. I shoot it pretty accurately, and the recoil is very mild. I've not had it long enough to comment on its overall reliability, but its function has been flawless for me, and I don't regret the purchase at all. |
Thats what led me to posting here. I read of all the problems people have been posting on there. Thanks for the input thought guys. I've got an Older FN hi-power and its never treated me wrong. So I figured the FN name alone in my book makes something worth trying out. |
I have this problem with every one of my (6) FN mags, even the ones that are relatively new. I don't think the mag springs are strong enough in them. Interestingly, my two Browning Pro-9 magazines function perfectly. |
His gun had never done this before but did it on every mag we fired that day. It would lock back when you manually cycled it on an empty mag but not when fired. He said he gave it a really good detail clean when he got home and that he might have been neglecting the area around the slide stop. |
| Irish, I took mine to the range today and put my first 200 rounds through it. Zero malfunctions. Mine shot a little low compared to my G19. SA trigger is great, DA is real long. I do not currently own a DA capable handgun though, so the DA trigger may be comparable to others out there, as I don't have a comparison, but I really liked the SA break. |
Does your G19 have the standard connector and spring? I was wondering because I have a G26 with the NY1 spring which provides resistence to the trigger pool making it feel longer. I was thinking the FNP-9 DA pul owuld be similar to my trigger pull if your G19 is the standard 5lb trigger. I have an FNP-9 comming and cannot wait to try my first DA/SA gun. Hopefully the trigger pull will be similar to my G26 with NY1 trigger spring (it was designed to be heavier like a revolver for those old time LEO that like the heavier trigger). |
