im looking to get my first gun. i have narrowed down my choices to 2 guns. they are on the extreme spectrums of eachother far as price ect... my first choice is springfield xd-45 tactical. i love the price, they way it fits my hands, and the round capacity, im not to keen on the plastics and the lack of part availability. the second gun im looking at is the sig p220 combat. i like the alloy frame (in my head seems more durable than tatical tuperware) i like the fact its x-tremely durable. the testing done on that gun is crazy. i dont like the price (big no no) and the capacity is smaller. but here is my question. i dont want to buy a gun and regret that i did not get the extras or regret that i should of gone with the higher priced quality gun. i cant afford to buy a second gun for a LONG while. i took me this long to convince my wife to let me get this one. will i be happy with the springfield? or should i get the sig (more top of the line?) is the sig worth the extra money? or should i spend that money on ammo instead? |

I got the XD45c and it is a great pistol. You already mention the downside of the XD so I am not going to bother. Mine has been flawless with no hiccups. It gets in the HD rotation with no worries. I never did like the Sigs, but if you want a double action, then it could be a good choice. |

have you shot either??? If not go rent them at the range, granted the Sig might be just a standard 220 the actions should be pretty similar unless the combat trigger is some different trigger set-up (not personally familiar with the 220 combat) I'm a glock guy but the Xd IMO is a good gun also and so are the sigs, which I own also. |
| I did a poll on the Sigforum.com and had listed the combat P220 as one of the choices and that handgun came out on top from all the other P220 varients I posted in the poll. If you shop around, you could get a Sig Sauer for a decent price NIB. There are quite a few vendors on the Sigforum and you might be able to snag a Sig Sauer at a good price. On the other side of the coin, I like my Glock 19 and that will not be my last Glock. Looking forward in getting a G30 one of these days. |
