What are the available Hi Power clones?

FEG PJK-9HP
Arcus
Charles Daly
Argentine FM
John Inglis

That's all I can think of right now.

In before somebody calls the CZ-75 a HP clone.

I could be wrong, but I think none of them are currently in production.

I have a Browning and like it very, very much.

I think you can get FN's for even less than a browning too.

I think the Charles Daly is still in production.

Not that I would buy one.

I think the FEG, the argintine, and the Arcus remain in production. Whether or not they have been recently imported is anoher question.

There are some Indian HP's out there also. They're actually clones of the Inglis.

FEG is out of the gun business after about a hundred years. Since the Charles Daly guns were assembled from FEG parts, they're finished too. Of course, there are still plenty of FEGs around and will be for years. I don't expect then to become big collectors' items although the prices are rising. There is also an FN 'knock-off' that's probably an FEG gun with FN roll mark. These guns can't be mistaken for a real FN because they have FEG serial numbers, such as 'B 23xxx' - FN never used such a number, but the old FNs could be something like '62C26'. There aren't many of these knock-offs but they are out there. The FEG that you want is the PJK-9HP, because it is literally an HP clone, with parts interchange (any gun parts may require some fitting). The newer P9M looks the same except for finish and grips, but has internal differences - they eliminated the barrel cam/stop and use a different design barrel lug and spring guide, plus the frame is a little different inside. Just be aware that an FEG advertised as a 'Browning clone' may be a totally different gun, like the double-action P9R or GKK-92. I don't know how it got started, but all sellers call those guns HP clones. They really are modeled after the S&W Model 59, and do not take HP mags or any other part. Anyway, there are also many FN-licensed copies such as the Argentine FM and the Canadian Inglis. There are also numerous military contract guns from all over the world. These usually only have 'FN' and a serial number.

Thank you.

I'm currently in possession of a Browning MKIII .40 S&W Hi Power. I hate the .40 caliber, is there an easy way to convert it back to the caliber it's supposed to be?

I'm not sure I'd call it especially easy, but:

When I was hanging out on the XD board a few years back, people were using the EFK barrels with good results, but I've never used one.

Wow.  Had no idea that FEG was out of business.  Knew they were making the clones for CD.

When did they close up shop?

I guess CD will still take care of my FEG clone.  (My PJK-9HP has one sweet trigger.)

The 9s are out of stock.  Wonder if it is because they are popular, or because no one is buying and they aren't replenishing.

well i know like 10 years ago we had a FEG hi-power and didnt think to much of its reliability and brought it back...lots of failure to feed issues. ( might have just been the ammo though).

i have a FEG FP9 that is almost identical to the Hi-Power, except for the ventilation rib on the top of the slide. it took some polishing of the magazine to smooth out the trigger. now it shoots nice and is dead-to-nuts accurate.

What is it that you don't like about the .40???  Becuase maybe there's ammo out there in .40 that would make you like it more?  I hear they can shoot pretty good in .40.  I have a 9 but I've been intrigued more and more by the .40.  I'm sure it works well.

Would you really consider the Inglis a clone?
It is sort of a nebulous position there.

Also, there are quite a few differences between the 9mm and .40 BHPs, not the least of which is the number of locking lugs on the barrel.

Easier to just buy a 9mm BHP.

They are 100% High Power, but since they weren't made in Europe and are referred to as "Inglis High Powers" I thought I'd mention them.

Well, for starters, it's my girlfriend's primary pistol, and it hurts when she pulls the trigger. And ammo is expensive and loud. Honestly, it hurts my hand worse than full-house 10mm 1911 or Smith M29 .44 Mag. Her dad gave it to her when she got out of the Army.

What about the FM Detective complete slides?
