Does anybody know if the 40 cal BHP mags will fit in a 9mm and function like they will in the HS2000 or Glocks? Not sure if the mag dimensions are the same.

The dimensions are the same, but the feed lips aren't. I haven't tried... and it's probably not worth it with all of those 17 round mags on the market.

Nope, they won't work. As mentioned, feed lips are different. Mag body should be different as well, IIRC.

OK, I am now just confused... I jst read that some of the early 40 mags were just 9mm mags with the feed lips opened slightly. So why couldn't the lips be pinched a little?

You recall wrong. A .40 HP can be "converted" to 9mm with an entirely new top end and 9mm magazine. If the magazine bodies were different, this wouldn't be possible.
