Really looking for a pocket pistol again. Prefer auto in 9mm or 45 ACP.

I love the Smith snubbies. Last resort would be that.

But as for semi-autos; what is the best? Must be reliable as a Glock, thin enough and light enough for pocket carry.

Thanks in advance.

I think you answered your own question man. Go with a glock. That's what I was thinking anyways. Straight to the point. No BS safeties. Ready to go when you need it.

I carry a 19, or a 36 with shorts and a T- shirt in "sweltering" Texas. If you want something that will hide better, the 26 has a shorter grip. The grip is the part that pokes the shirt and can give me away. If you want something smaller than that, a keltec 3apt in 380., just use fmj and you can hide it in your pocket. A friend showed me his keltec 32. I tried that in my front pocket with a uncle mikes holster and I couldn't tell I had it, I'm very anal about completely hiding my firearm. I tried the keltec 9mm, the trigger(sorry people who like it) is horrible to me. I would choose the G26 for the 9mm, keltec for the 380, or 32.

Auto pocket pistol in 9mm.  Rohrbaugh

It is the only true "pocket pistol" that is in 9mm.  Anything else is really too large for comfortable pocket carry.  Personally, I carry the Kel-Tec P3AT or a S&W 642.

Smith 442, one of the best pocket guns ever!

Glock 26 or Kahr PM9. The PM9 is a great size and can be very reliable. Just break it in and test it first, they are more hit/miss than the Glock. Keltec P32 or P3AT for smaller caliber. And for the great but now way overpriced someone should start making them again category: the Colt Pony 380.

"Best" is very subjective.

My AD/ED pocket gun is a P3AT and has been for some time (in a Hedley pocket holster FWIW).  I have two and they are reliable (one required the "fluff & buff" and one required shooting breaking in).  It serves as backup to a G19 on my hip 99% of the time I am not in the office, but I have been quite happy with it.  Completely disappears in my front pocket, even in thin slacks/suit pants (what I have on 90% of the time).

I like my G26, but it's too big for pocket carry.  I've owned a PM9, but it didn't work as well for pocket carry as the S&W 642.  My current pocket gun is a 642 and I'm quite pleased with it.

The G26 is to big for pocket carry IMO.  I think the Kahr PM9 is the best pocket gun.  Mine is great.

Glock needs to make a thin G26, it would win the pocket market hands down.

PM9 seems ok.

Fits all of your criteria.

I think a G-26 is getting to the outter limits of practical pocket carry.

If you wait a few months, Beretta is coming out with a Subcompact PX-4

13 Rounds of 9mm.  Only 4.8" high, and 6.2" Long.  And can take the 17 and 20 Round PX-4 mags as backup mags in your other pocket.

It has safety/decocker lever as well, which IMO makes it a bit safer than pocket carrying a Glock.

Here's a pretty good pic comparing it in size to other current subcompacts.

There're some pretty sweet little pistols being mentioned here but I really like my Beretta Bobcat 21A 22LR.  Small, light, reliable, accurate and cheap to train with.  It might not have the kind of kinetic energy you're after but it's a decent hideaway/pocket piece.

You might wait for the Walther PPS which is very thin and has promise.  Though people may not like to admit it "reliability of a Glock" is setting the bar extremely high for any gun let alone a hide-out piece.

Here are some size comparison pics from Mouseguns.com.

The G26 is cool but a little thicker or boxier than the Kahr P9 or PM9, but they're more expensive.
I have a S&W 642 w/ 125gr Nyclads that I like a whole lot better than the Kel-Tec .32 I used to have.
Price of G26 with holster and a new pair of pants with bigger front pockets= cheaper than the Kahr.

The G26 is a great handgun (have one), but it's no pocket pistol.  It's a subcompact.
Also, because some folks were wondering; the slide cannot be made thinner because the weight (mass) is necessary for reliable functioning.
The G26 is probably close to the smallest a 9mm can be made and still have a virtual guarantee of flawless functioning. All the attempts to make a nine smaller have resulted in pistols which have a somewhat questionable reliability record; the Kahrs, etc.  Some people end up with real good ones, some people end up with real bad ones; not the case with the Glocks.

I can't believe some of the options you guys have suggested for a "Pocket Pistol"

If you are actually going to carry a gun in your pocket, you will want something compact.  For me, it is my Smith 442 or Kel Tec P3AT.  There is no way I'm carrying a Glock in my pocket.

HUGE +1 on that.  I'm surprised that nobody has chimed in "1911" yet.....

Rohrbaugh is the ONLY 9mm pocket pistol IMO;  the rest are just too large for me to carry concealed in most of my pockets.  That said, I've had excellent luck with a S&W 340PD in my front pocket.

+1 for the very cool poster.

The Kahr is pretty much what you are looking for, unless you can spend the money on a Rohrbaugh.

I wish the Rohrbaughs were more cheaper and more popular.  I would love to pick one up for $400 or so.

The Keltec pf9, if it proves to be reliable will be a good option for the budget conscious CCWer.

Check again...the PF-9 is there.

Sev ofcs from my dept bought the PF-9s this summer.  So far all have been pleased.  Only one gun I'm familiar with on the actual round count and he is about 200 rounds wit no malfunctions.

Think this will be a good alternative to the PM-9.  ers own a PM-9 and it is my always carry gun off-duty, while the P3AT is my BUG on duty...and sometimes off duty!

Just picked up a Taurus Millennium Pro Stainless PT145. Small, light,  10+1 of .45, SA/DA trigger, accurate for its size, and the 3rd gen has improved the frame, light striking and trigger from the previous gens, plus they added the tacticool rail... Did I mention the price? sub 350 bucks for stainless. Fed it 50 rnds with no problems today and after another few hundred confidence rounds, it will be my CCW piece.

I have one of those.

The mag release in in the grip panel and has relatively weak spring. Which means when you pull it out it may be a single shot. It has no exctractor which means tap/rack/bang doesnt work for a misfire.

No firing pin safty on all but the newest versions. Can fire if the hammer is bumped. I know of two cases of it happening although neither was during pocket carry. If you like the feel of the PPK/S then the Sig P230/232 is a safer design with the same size and feel.
