I have a Glock 23 and want to get a flashlight for it.  I use it for home defense and I think that a good flashlight is needed.  Any recommendations would be great.  Thanks

Email Calvin at Brightflashlights in the industry board and talk with him about your wants and budget. Great guy and has some huge deals on great products. My choice would be a SureFire X200B with the extended switch that fits on the grip frame. But I am a confirmed SF guy.

You have one of the best all around hg. If your going to add a light, in my humble opinion you should have a hand held first. The G2Z from SF is my fav. My EDC is an executive. For a weapon mounted light----X200.

+1 on getting a good handheld light first.  Be careful of gun mounted lights if you're not going to train with it, the natural instinct is to point your light directly at things, which means you're pointing your gun at it.

I've just picked up a Fenix P3D and am highly impressed,  A low power mode for general use, it can signal SOS and a 160 lumen flame thrower when needed, and it can strobe it.  A really great carry light for about $70

Also, if you're on a budget, Wally World has a 3 watt LED Rayovac for $20, aluminum construction, O ring seals, uses AA batteries and while not as bright or as small or as versatile as the Fenix, is still pretty impressive from a $20 light.

If you're into the xenon lights, the Streamlight Scorpion is always a good choice, as is the Surefire G2 Nitrolon, the original 6P and the E2E.

That being said, I'm a sucker for the LED lights.

Surefire has some of the best customer service you will find.  Their lights aren't that bad either

Neat hack, be fun to play with, but for several reasons I wouldn't even consider it as a tac light.

And I like how he says the Duracell 123 batteries are three for $4.  Around here they're about $6 each.  I can't even mail order Surefire batteries in bulk for that price.

Also, that bulb he recommends is a 4.8 volt bulb, I can't imagine it's going to last long running on 12+ volts.  And since it's not shock proof in any way, drop the light while it 's being overdriven like that and it will pop like a flashbulb...assuming it didn't the second you turned it on.

Flashlight hacks are a lot of fun to play around with, but calling that a "police light", is like calling a Dachshund pumped up on crack cocaine a "police dog".

Calvin, at Bright flashlights. Been mentioned here because he is  a very good source for the lights and batteries. I buy the batteries in a 12 pack. Not too bad to feed my Z-2's.

Run X200B on duty G22 and it has been rock solid. I think it is a great choice for a weapon light.
