how do you  clean your pistols, is it bad to push a bronze bore brush down the chamber out the muzzle, and then BACK through? is that bad for the crown? or is it all good?

You're supposed to clean guns?

Seriously, I do it just like I do my Ar's. I rarely use a bore brush but if I do I run the rod down the barrel from the muzzle end exposing the rod on the chamber end and then attach the swab or brush then pull it back out.

Not bad at all to run a bronze brush back and forth down a barrel. I will run a wet patch first then run a wet bronze brush a few cycles, wet patch, a few dry ones, then oil.

The tight accurate folks would cringe.  But I do it.  They still punch holes at a range.  GL

chamber---->>>muzzle is how i always run the brushes--push the crap outwards

Right or wrong... I don't know. I've always heard not to pull the brush back through. I just put the brush in the chamber unattached to a rod and then push it through with a plastic rod without threading it. That way I don't have to unscrew it to pull the rod back out. Or you could use the cable type rods such as what the Otis kits come with and just stick the empty end cable through the chamber and pull it through without having to unscrew the brush each time.

I use the Otis system now on all my firearms. Breach to muzzle. Before I bougt the Otis I always went breach to muzzle/repeat. I cant say that its the only way you should do it but all the reading I have done says no back and forth.

it seems like pulling a bronze brush back through the muzzle would do as much damage (if any) as pushing it out anyway, i looks to me like it doesnt matter which way you go as far as the brush goes (as long as you dont use steel)
