You will love one and hate the other. I was in the same situation and ended up converting to all GLOCKs. The bore axis on the GLOCK is extremely low, the difference is night and day. Either buy Sig's, Beretta's, Ruger's, etc. OR Own GLOCKs If you dont believe me go to your local shop, ask to see one of each. Then take each firearm and safely point it at a desired target. I am pretty sure you will need to adjust with one after you have held the other. my 2 cents |

I really like my berreta. I think it is a personal preference thing. I've always liked glocks when people let me shoot them, but I'm a fan of having a safety somewhere. And an exposed hammer is nice too but not as important to me as a safety. And the other guy was correct. The grip angle is something to think about. You'll either like the glock, or not really like it. |
|
I don't like the Glock trigger. I have owned sveeral Glocks over the years - except for the Glock 34, I shot all the glocks low and to the left no matter how much I practiced. I don't have this issue with any other guns. I finally sold the G34 this spring - I hated the mushy trigger, despite it being the only Glock I shoot decently with. Keep the Beretta! |
Worst part about a Beretta safety is...you CAN leave it engaged, or you can engage it while racking the slide. The 92G is a much better design. At least if you hit the safety while racking the slide on a G model it will just decock the gun instead of making it inoperable. BTW, my duty gun is a 92FS (not by choice). |
| The glock is a far superior weapon. The Berettas are the only service handgun that I or any of my buddies have ever had problems with. This is compared to Sigs, Glocks, Kimbers, FN, Smiths, you name it. The only reason I'd own a Beretta is if I was in the armed forces and wanted consitency in my training, but I'm not, so I don't. |
Cant argue that. Even better would be an SAO 92fs. |
| Save up for the Glock. I have both like both. You hate yourself later for trading a perfectly reliable firearm. Yes the 92 FS is large for a 15 round 9mm but its ergonomics, accuracy and style are top notch. Glocks are cool also, but trust me never sell a gun you like. |
Yep. The only thing I would add is my Beretta is actually a 20 round 9mm with Meg-Car's new semi-flush fit mags. |
|
The Beretta is larger, no doubt about that. but it is a tough handgun and it points much more naturally for me (more 1911 level). I like the technical features of the Glocks, but that extreme grip angle means I have to dip my wrist like some faggot to get the sights aligned. In a emergency, I think the M92 is a much more natural shooter. Also, it is .GOV standard issue so parts and mags would be widely available if needed and if you combine with a M-4 gery you would more likely "print" as a Good Guy (I.M.H.O.) I'd suggest you rent both pistols at a firing range (those are two that any range would have to rent) and try each out to see how the trigger and grips work for you. Don't worry what others say, pick what works best for Y-O-U!!! BIGGER_HAMMER

If you are like me you'd end up regretting that you traded off a good gun. Make no mistake, I believe that the G19 is one of the best handguns ever and I own one, but I wouldn't get rid of that sweet-ass Beretta to get one. Like others have mentioned though, be sure to pick up a Glock and see what it feels like and points like in your hand. No one else can make that decision for you. Personally I love the Glock's trigger pull, and the grip angle has never been a concern for me. I only have noticed it recently because I have been carrying my old SIG P228 for the last year and a half and haven't shot my Glocks much. When I shot my G19 two weeks ago I could immediately tell the difference in the grip angle. |
true, yet the beretta has done its time as serice pistol and fires the 9mm same as any other. though a bit heavy with a fucked up safety ill always keep my m9 copy ETA: also 2nd strike capability is something to consider |
I'm glad you chimed in...I was going to post a thread regarding this issue. I have seen news pictures, internet pictures and heard third hand accounts of S.F. guys and even some conventional units carrying Glock 19's. In my younger brothers unit, he told me he seen some aviation guys with either M-9's or Glock 19's. Are these weapons issued or purchased privately? |
Second strike "capability" is a consideration that exists only in the minds of ordnance officers and purchasing departments. If you train correctly, if you have a failure to fire, you rack the slide immediately instead of wasting time pulling the trigger repeatedly on a round with a potentially dead primer. |
Damn austrian gernades.
