I was looking at the H&K USC online recently, and noticed that the action is listed as "simply blowback." What is the general concensus on this? Isn't that the same kind of action that the Jennings Nine uses, and isn't that one of the reasons why it's recarded as such a bad gun? What does this say for an H&K carbine costing over $1,000??? Now, assuming that simple blowback isn't the terrible thing that I've thought that it was since the Jennings, I want a USC.

Nothing wrong with blowback - buy it

Jennings just suck.  Many smaller caliber pistols are blowback - Ruger Mark II is one example.  The problem with larger caliber blowback pistols is that the weight of the slide and strength of the recoil spring start to get too large to be practical.

I'm not familiar with the HK USC though...

I was hoping to hear that! Although I can't afford it now, it's on my list, along with an M1A, of stuff to buy before Hillary gets elected...

Blowback in the USC is a plus, because it cuts down on moving parts VS, say, the MP5.  However in pistols, blowback sucks once you get over .380 because the slide has to be so heavy to resist opening the breech before the pressure in the barrel has dropped to a safe level the guns become top-heavy.  I've played with a USC at the local range.  It's on my list.

The Thompson was a "simple blowback"  That works great for low pressure rounds like .45acp

(religious snip) watch what you say, I was eating lunch while reading this and I almost choked on my roast beef!

Was that a little too pessimistic? I probably should have replaced "Hillary" with "a liberal."
At least that makes more obvious the prospect of hope...
