Anyone have some experience with this pistol? I've fondled it and really like it's features - but would like to hear from some owners.

The M&P40 is a great handgun. It's probably one of the softest shooting .40 S&Ws I've ever shot. It shoots like a 9mm with a +P load.

There have been some issues with the M&P40 dropping magazines for no apparent reason but it looks like S&W has identified the problem and their response to fix the problematic ones is extremely responsive.

Picked one up 2 months ago, have put 600 rds through so far.  1 FTF, no other problems. The FTF, I believe was from an extremely hard primer.  Love the M&P. All my glocks are on their way out.

It is a very nice handgun.  It has the feel of a SIG, but it is lighter and it has even better ergonomics.  The trigger is pretty nice too.  If I was in the market for a compact .40 it would be at the top of the list.  My only question about it is how many rounds will the pistol hold up on.

I've owned my MP40 for several months now. I did a trigger job on it out of the box. Not that it was that bad, just easliy made better. The Glock I own is for sale so I can buy another one!

Only time will tell but keep in mind the M&P was designed for the .40 S&W unlike the Glocks that were originally designed for the 9mm.

They feel great but the mag release, for me anyway, is HORRIBLE so I will not buy one. I never held a gun where I had to shift my grip so much to hit it.

Thanks for the input! I got the 40! Put a few mags through it - it's better than I hoped for! The Glock is out, the M&P is in!    By the way the M&P 40 fits the Blackhawk holster for the Glock 21 perfectly! This is my new IDPA rig! Gotta get to the reloading bench!

I have the .40 and 9mm full size M&P, and love them both. Very reliable, comfortable and they point better than any combat pistol I've ever held. Superb gun, for the $$.

Can't WAIT till the .45's are on the shelves.
