Any companies make handguns with lefties in mind?

I know some have the ambi safety, how about the slide release?

I am a lefty who uses 1911s. the slide relase is manipulated perfectly with the index finger of the LH and the ambi takes care of the safety problem. HK also designed USPs with ambidexterity in mind.

The 1911 with an ambi-safety is an excellent lefty gun.  As noted above, the levers on the left side are easier to use for lefties than for righties.

Other than that, any of the "slick slide" guns without thumb safeties, like Glock, XP, M&P or my favorite, SIG DAK.

Don't bother putting slide releases and mag releases on the right side; waste of time and money.

im waiting for the new hk45 to have an ambi slide lock.  they have had the p2000 in other calibers with a lem trigger.  i like true ambi, not having to do it diff and blind with other hand.

Sure, Glocks, XD's, Sigs, Rugers, Smiths, all of them are fine.  Just adapt to using them left handed like I did.  The XD's with the ambi mag release are pretty lefty friendly though.

Well, U know about the ambi mag release - like the P99. But, the HK P2000 is truely ambi.

HK P2000. About as lefty-friendly as you can get.

As sweet as I've seen out of the box .

The HK P7 is pretty much ambidextrous.  The cocker also is the slide release, and the mag release is ambi.  I still prefer a 1911 with ambi safeties being a lefty.

Glocks work quite well for lefties.

Lefty here also, 1911's with an ambi thumb safety. Sig's, S&W revolvers are all more left friendly than right friendly.

A very good choice for lefties. I was born left handed, but can only shoot rifles right handed, (very bizarre). And shoot pistols ambi.

Me too.
Are you cross-dominant, ie, right-eyed and left handed?

Yep. I am glad I don't shoot rifles left-handed, especially since I like bullpups.

Safari Arms made a Mirror image 1911 that is as lefty friendly as a regular 1911 is to a righty.  I love handing my lefty 1911 to people and watching them try to figure out what the hell is wrong with it.  Wecome to my world.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I'll pass them along to my friend so he can finally buy a new gun that he can comfortably use.
