I am going to buy a Les Baer 1911 for my wife and one for myself.

Is there any reason why I would not want to get the hard chrome option?

With what I have been able to read on it, it appears that it is the most durable of the finishes.

Any comments?

Also they offer an option guaranteeing a 1 1/2" group at 50 yds.  This seems like a slam dunk as well.?

HARD CHROME IS THE CAT'S ASS !

It' makes the gun last forever,  and makes it very easy to clean.

Can you shoot a 1 1/2 group at 50 yards?  Unless you are a competition shooter, I think that most modern pistols will outshoot their owners.

I can't shoot a 1 1/2" group off handed.  But I believe that the group I do shoot will have about a 1 1/2 to 2" less spread with this option. (If I can shoot a 4" group this will prevent it from being a 5 1/2" is my impression - but I have been wrong before)

Thanks

Would/can you hard chrome a stainless handgun?

I thought that I read that it was even better on SS but I can't find it.

It is a nice finish - But, 1 caveat... I hate typing out the long version, so I will be brief... U could probably do a search of my pasts posts on The High Road or one of the 1911 sights and find the full version - I've told it before...

But I sent a $1200 Springfield TRP to Tripp Research for hard chroming. And, he screwed it up. Sent it back a second time, and it still wasn't done right.

I learned a lesson... If ya really like the gun, and the original finish is fine - don't screw w/ it... U may get a situation like I did.

I finally got rid of it at a big loss....
