Recently bought a LDA 12-45. Like the 1911 style but didn't want to keep Gold Cup in condition 1. The Para DA trigger pull is quite nice. The gun is black finish with night sights. Got a nice Galco paddle holster for it. It is Officer's Model size, except for thicker grip. I like the gun, but ... Took it to range. Fired ball and several types of HP. Had numerous jams, moreso with the 12-round mag than with the 10-round. No stovepipes, all were straight ahead where did not go up feed ramp. Ramp looks almost straight down; not as much slant as on my others. Took it back to dealer who sent off to Para. Think I will dump it when I get it back. I don't have any confidence level in carry or home defense. May trade for S&W 44 spl or ?? I have never had a problem with whatever I throw at the Gold Cup, Star PD, Hi-powers, Firestar or Berettas I own or have owned. Anyone else having such problems with Para?? |

I don't own a Para, but a number of the shooters in our IDPA league run them. Yes, they can be a finicky beast. Some folks have great luck with them , others don't. Can't say I know why, but if any gun is going to choke in one of our matches there's a pretty good chance it will be a Para. |
As you should! If you have ANY more problems, Contact Para ASAP and ask them to please replace or fix the firearm (for free, of course). Please keep us posted as well. I like PO pistols very much (I have owned 3 paras), and hope to see this company treat customers properly. EricE |
Some times the mags in Para's have to be "tuned", there are 'smiths how offer this service, especially the IPSC/IDPA crowd. Also, let us know what Para advises and does to make this right. Again, good luck. Beachboy |

I have a Para C7 LDA, and it has functioned flawlessly with the ammo I have tried (except for a couple of bad primers on cheap range ammo). It works with the 60 year old WWII surplus stuff, cheapo steel case Wolf; sellier & beliot (spelling?), Win silvertips, and my choice for carry- Federal 230, 185, or 165 grain hydra-shocks. Performance and reliability requires tuning (ramp, spring, etc...) and fuel (ammo), so change either and I bet it would work reliably. I would try different ammo, but as I tend to sell unhappy guns, you ought to do whatever makes you most confident in your weapon. I'd be elated if I saw it on gunbroaker.com for $450.... If you want relatively perfect reliability, buy a good S&W revolver, or become a pacifist who is resigned to fate.... -Semper Fi.... |
| My 14.45 LDA had problems with hollow points at first. It would stovepipe on the feed ramp. I did some VERY LIGHT polishing with a 'rock cloth' and cleaned it and put some break free on the ramp and it worked from then on. It got better the more I put through it (using both the 10 and the 15 rounders I got for it). |

Got the LDA 12-45 back from Para. Nothing to say what they did. Dealer says Para and Springfield both do that - nothing more than fixed per customer request. Went to range and put ball and HP through with no problems from 10-round mag. They apparently put a new spring in mag, as I have to really work to load it. Then tried 12-round; same jam problems as before. Went back to dealer. He had a new Wolfe spring to fit, so put that in and went in the back and fired off several mags with no problem. Bottom line is that it works like it ought to now. Para worked on gun and 10-round mag at no cost to me. I did pay for the spring for the 12-round that I bought from the dealer. It was worth the small price. Just too bad it wasn't right to begin with, but Para's customer service is good. Now to enjoy! |
| Glad to hear that Para got it running and you were pleased with the service. I have 2 Para (C745 and 14-45 Ltd) and both have been flaweless out of the box (over 1,000 rounds in each), so I have not used the customer service. Mags seem to be a big issue with 1911 clones, and I have replaced the springs in all of mine with Wolff, except for the double-stack Para mags, which run just fine as is. |
