So I've got this mechanically excellent but cosmetically challenged Model 51. It is a neat pistol, fairly accurate and oh so small and flat. It fits nicely between the OACP I carry regularly and the Beretta 21A for when my wife wants me to behave, or at least give the appearance of behaving. The same gunsmith who built my OACP (Dave Sams) seems amused at the idea of putting decent sights, cleaning it up, parking or matte bluing it, and making it a retro-cool occasional carry gun.
Am I just stupid? I've shot at least 1000 rounds out of this thing, many of which have been the Remington Express JHP. It only gets cranky after no cleaning.
Does this seem cool? It needs a refinishing badly, as the badly done earlier refinish is just that: bad. So, no collector value.
If I decide to do it, I'll slot it in after the BHP.

And, no, I don't want to carry something else. It is more for amusement than truly practical.

Thanks!

I say why not do it up. I had one years ago and it was a great gun. It sounds like its a keeper for you so why not make it the way you want it.
