i have a sw99 and i want to take the black finish off the end of the barrel and the part of the chamber that shows on the slide. can i do this or will it tanish or anything? i was goign to use a very fine polish wheel. thanks seth |

I believe it has a melonite coating, somewhat similiar to the slide. If U take the finish off, it is more likely to rust. I have seen people post messages on other forums about having some something similiar, and then have rust issues later. Just send it off (the barrel only) and have it either NP3'd or hard chromed.
