Just got a new P232, very nice pistol.  However, when the hammer is uncocked, it rests in a position that if OFF OF the firing pin--is this intended operation?  Hammer strikes pin when trigger is pulled (haven't taken it to the range yet.)  This seems different from all my other auto pistols.  Thanks for any insights.

yes it is, i have 2 sigs both of them have the hammer resting off the firing pin when you use the decocker. my older sig will let the hammer rest on firing pin if you use the trigger to lower the hammer.

only thing i don't like about the 232 is the euro mag release. guess i am too use to the american mag release. other than that it is a great lil gun.

Thanks much for the input, have wanted one of these for awhile. I like a .380 for what it is (also have a Bersa .380 which I like), and you've got to like the Sig for the way it "oozes craftsmanship", indeed!
