You might want to look here also: M&P review When it comes between the pistols you listed, I would probably opt for the G19. I carry a 99 at work and hate the thing. As for the M&P, I havent shot one yet, but have handled them in a store (they felt pretty nice). Once I get some range time with the M&P I may change mymind. |
| I was minutes away from buying a S&W MP in .40, but elected not to. I really like this gun, as it has a good trigger, light rail and excellent capacity. I did read the review posted by a fellow ARFCOM'er and I was a little disapointed. He mentioned a pin walking out every 400 rounds and noted some FTF and FTE's. Every gun can have failures, but since this is the first year of production and I can remember the Sigma fiasco all to well, I decided to wait. Personally, I like the S&W much more than the Glock 22 and I look forward to buying one in the future. While they have since fixed the Sigma, I don't want to do S&W's field testing on my dime. My only complaint is the funky slide release, other than that I really like this gun. I got a contract with Nike the first year they made hockey stuff. It tought me to see how new products work in the real world before jumping in head first. Thankfully, no one was killed/injured when my shafts broke and the eyelets pulled out of my skate boots. They seem like good guns, but I will wait and triple check they are the next Sigma fiasco. |

www.taurususa.com/company/history.cfm Says on the taurus website that Bangor Punta, a conglomerate, purchased smith & wesson. They also bought 54% of Taurus. So... If this is true than they are, or were, mostly owned by the same people. |
For a few years, back in the 1970s, they were under the same holding company. That has not been the case for over 30 years... |
