I need help guys, next month I plan on buying a new pistol, a Kimber TLE/RLII or a Glock 35, I have (5) other Glocks (2-19's,23,27,32), I've had 2-17's, another 19, 30 and 33. I love Glocks and know they are very reliable(several 1000rds,no malfunctions other than 1 reload(bulged case). I want another 45acp, I have a Sig 220 & 245 and I've had (2) other 220's, so I've shot plenty of 45acp. I want a Kimber TLE/RLII so bad, but the only 1911's I've owned or shot, were (2) Colt Gov't full sized and (1) Colt Commander, I don't even remember what series they were, they were nothing but problems! FTF's, FTE's and stovepipes constantly, finally got so pissed I got rid of them, this was about 15-20yrs ago!

The question is, have factory 1911's come a long way since then? I plan on putting one of my SF X2OO's on what ever gun I buy as a nightstand gun(only after it's proved it's reliability). Yeah, I know one's a .45 and one's a .40, I have faith in both calibers.

Either will work if they both go bang everytime I pull the trigger, I've shot both calibers enough that I'm comfortable with either.

I just don't know if I want another Glock or something different, a Kimber if they're reliable.

I, know, get both right? I probably will eventually!

LET THE OPINONS BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys!

KIMBER

I have a Glock 21 also, but why go GAP when you already shoot 45acp?
Last I checked GAP ammo isn't cheap either(not that regular 45 is).

You will be happy with either. I have a G21 and a Kimber Warior. My Warrior needed a trip back to Kimber to have a reliability job done. They did all the work for free and it has been 100% for well over 1000rds. It is my bedside table gun and wears a sufire X200. I like it more than my glock if that matters. Its all in what you like to shoot IMO.

Of course the 1911 will have problems......its a 1911 afterall. I'd get the 35 first, then the 1911

NCPatrolAR your an idiot.....

Both my kimbers are 100% reliable out of the box. one is the Kimber Warrior (1200rounds) a Kimber Pro Carry II (500rounds), I also had a Kimber TLE RL II never jammed in 200rounds that i had it.

The only reason i got rid of it was for a lighter carry gun.

Sorry to bring you back to reality. Only the die-hard 1911 Kool-Aid drinkers refuse to aknowledge the rocky past of the 1911 and the fact that the gun requires much more intensive maintence than something like the Glock.

You need to take a lesson from guys like Ken Hackathorn. Realize the 1911 is a good combat pistol, but also realize that it is extremely finiky..... I believe it (1911) is often refered to as "The King of Feedway Stopages" by these people.

Normaly I don't get involved in the combat tupperwear debate but I have to cry BS on the whole Glock perfection thing. Glocks blow up with greater reliability than any other make of gun I'm aware of. There can't possibly be more Glocks out there than 1911's so Glock must make an inferior product for there to be so many failures. I have three 1911's and I've had none of the problems I'm susposed to have acording to the 'experts' on the WWW. I've had no shattered MIM parts, no FTF's, FTE's, hang fires, miss fires, POA POI issues, or other problems.

Thanks Guys!

For some of you I think there is a bit of confusion, the G35 is a .40S&W (I wish .357SIG), not a .45GAP!

I'm still debating though, Glocks point great for me, but so did the Kimber TLE/RLII I fondled........I mean held!

On the Kimber page you still hear reliability problems? A bigger % no problems, but still several with problems. I just don't want to buy a $900 gun just to send back to the factory(with my luck)!

Like I said before, I'll probably get both eventually! Just don't know which one first!

I didn't mean to cause a fuss, I was just asking for serious opinions, because I'm being serious..........money just doesn't flow as freely around here as it use too!

in that case, get the one that you find the best deal on first....if you find a kimber you like for a good price, i would get that first as glocks can be gotten easier for cheaper

If you get a .40 you can always get a drop in .357 barrel. The magazines and frame size are the same.

+ 1 for the TLE

I have 4 Glocks (2-17's, 23, and a 30), I also have a S&W 1911. I have had zero malfunctions with any of these 5 pistols. Maybe I am just lucky, but it really comes down to what platform you want. Pick one and save up for the other. My favorite caliber is the 45 acp though..

Just my opinion....

In the ARFCOM Tradition... Get all three!!!!!!!!!!

Someone did mention the BHP, right?

Yeah, I know the Kimber is just an original Custom Eclipse.

Kimber. I have both Glocks & 1911s & love both. Each has it's place & I would never get rid of either. I have a Kimber Warrior w/ M3 light for the bedroom & 2nd floor & a G21 w/ M3 light & night sights for the first floor of the house.

Since you've got plenty of Glocks I would get the Kimber. Every Kimber I've had has been reliable. Just make sure you use good mags like Wilson or McCormick.
