How much should it cost for the basic model (without the long barrel)?

Here in MA the standard is $239 and the 5" model is $289... Some places have them in stock and others have a long waiting list.

I got my standard model for $199 here in washington state.

$200 + tax here in Vegas...buy the high velocity ammo for it or it will not function properly.

I actually haven't seen a short barrel version in the stores around here; the long barrel version I bought last week was $285.

When you find one check for the updated magazines (they make the gun work with any ammo for some reason). There will be a -A suffix on the part number marking on the magazine body.
