Also, How hot is Hungarian MFS .45 ammo compared to WWB or Fiocchi?

This would be for a 1911 or a Sig P220.

Hmm.  I suppose I might look into the Federal EFMJ, but I haven't researched it at all so for all I know it's ass.

Hirtenberger .45 ? In all seriousness, I'd stick with known domestic brands such as WWB, Rem, Fed, etc.  If I could get it, I'd want M1911 Ball that is made to milspec that isn't old govt surplus.  I'm assuming you're talking about defensive use.  Stick with the American ammo.  Save the cheapo foreign stuff for practice/plinking.

federal gold medal match.  860ft/s.
am eagle/wolf.  850ft/s.
most others (win, rem, pmc) 835ft/s.

may try buffalo bore +p FP.  950ft/s, 461ft/lbs.

The hottest is DoubleTap 45 FMJ.  The MFS +P is supposedly somewhere between a regular load and +P, cheap though.  The Buffalo Bore is pricey.  Then you got your Cor-Bon expanding FMJ that is +P.

The MFS ammo is not particularly hot.  Its VERY consistent and clean.  There is very little muzzle flash.  I really like the ammo and find it to be some of the most accurate factory ammo I've shot.  I would not hesitate to use it for defensive purposes.

Oh... and if I were forbidden from using hollow point ammo, I would find a flat point 230 grain load.

USGI 230gr BALL made by Winchester (I have about 2K of this).  Or American Eagle 230gr or Magtech 230gr both of these are more consistant and a lot cleaner than WWB.  I've had bad luck with WWB, in the last 400rounds I've found 8 rounds where the bullets were seated WAY too deeply.
