| Has anyone had problems reassembling their Jennings 9? I believe that the sear, spring loaded, slipped of the pin and is caught in the slide. The damned thing wont come appart!! It only has 50 rounds through it and I was disassembling it for cleaning when the trouble started. I bought it cheep , but I had faith it would function better than this. It is a papper wieght now , any thoughts? Is this a normal thing with Jennings? Thanks ahead of time! |

newbushmaster, Wish I had some good news for you, but I have zero experience with the Jennings 9mm. Their original like striker fired .22's were a pretty cheap firearm, made of zinc or another non-ferrous metal if I recall correctly. They were kinda hit or miss, one might function fine and be dependable and the next was only fit to be a crab trap weight. You might try asking your question in the gunsmithing forum and see if Kurt or anyone over there can offer you some insight. Good luck. Beachboy |
I only held a Jennings 9MM the other day at a gun shop that took one in trade. Generally, the Jennings' of all sizes have a negative reputation. Quality, materials and reliability are well known. I had to go through a few J-22s to find one that worked, for example. If you overstuff any magazine, it can cause the spring to weaken almost immediately, but I couldn't tell you on a Jennings which one is a 10 or a 12 rounder. At under $150, you want to shoot in the olympics with it?

I hate to say it but.....It was a paper weight before, too! Jennings, Lorcin, Phoenix Arms, Raven....etc, these guns are cheap for a reason. You get what you pay for, for the most part... with most handguns on the market. If you want a cheap reliable little .22 take a look at the Taurus PT-22. I had one for many years that was quite reliable. That is as bottom of the barrel as I would go. Another suggestion... you might look at Keltec pistols. Take care, John |
Yup, I am afraid this is the case. I know a guy who once went out and bought one of these new. Before he finished off a 50 rd box of ammo through it, the thing just, well, came apart! LOL. It was also a 9mm. Luckily you have better weapons and weren't relying on this one. |
