228 is only available in 9mm.....229 available in 9mm, 40SW, and .357 SIG
228 has full slide serations on the rear of the slide.....229 has slide serations only half way I believe the slide materials are different but not sure |

Correct. The 228 slide is sheet steel formed over a mandral with the breech block pinned in. The 229 slide is milled stainless steel. |

Both are great guns but I's say sence the 229 has a milled one piece slide it is built a little better and stronger.
