and wouldn't get rid of it for anything? still throwing around this 10MM thing - and very close to picking up a G20 OD green (tan) :) Guns shop smart ass said "what is this obsolete calibre day?" when I went in there ready to buy Saturday. Aside from ammo costs tell me why I shouldn't pick one up? Nevermind the frame color choice y'all cleared that up for me in another thread. for the sake of duplicating concerns I have: 1 - .357mag 2 - 9mm 1 - .45 I think a 10MM will fit in nicely here. thoughts? |

Since price of ammo isn't a problem, I see no reason NOT to go with a new G20. Especially good handgun when it comes to switching calibers, you have a lot available to you. The 10mm is tough to beat, for you can get loads from mild to wild, with 15+1 avaialble, I don't think you can go wrong. Springer |
What part of NC are you in? I'm in the RTP area and you are welcom to try mine. It's a good gun, a little on the large side but if you've got medium to large hands you'll handle it just fine. The round is excellent and it makes a good hiking/camping gun. It is one of the most naturally pointing guns that I have ever shot. Anyway, if you are up for it, send me an IM. I'll have a fair amount of time after Thursday. |
| I too have a 20. Its the only handgun that I would completely trust my life to right now (sadly, my Kimber TLE has extraction issues :(. Aside from ammo costs and availability, it is a great gun. Very fun to shoot. The recoil is very managable. Don't let anyone scare you with that (a gun shop employee told me it kicked awful hard, yeah right). About the only thing I still need to do to my pistol is get night sights for it. Check out this website for what I believe is the best 10mm ammo money can buy: Double Tap Ammo Now if only Winchester would make 10mm in white box value packs! Good luck. Post a range report and pictures when you get it. |

I have had a G29 for almost 10 years and it still holds a special place in my collection. I've always wanted a G20 too but never got around to getting one yet and would have gotten it rather than the 29 if it weren't for the 10 round limit back then. So I just stocked up on the G20 15 round mags for now (they'll work in the G29 too.) A G20 IS a formidable weapon. You've got the ammo capacity of a 9mm with twice the ballistic firepower round per round. Winchester Silvertip 175 Grain 10mm is one of the last, if not last, commonly available factory load you can find at a lot of shops which is full power 10mm. You'll see around 650 ft-lbs of energy with those loads and they don't cost a whole lot. The rest of the common factory 10mm offerings are basically just .40 cal now. |
From the research i hav e been doing DvlDog I think its the G21 and G20 that fit the same hoslters...I'm pretty sure there are quite a few around here that could correct me - but I think I'm right on that one. |

Davi's sucks. In so many ways. I'd heartily recommend PDHSC in Garner or Rudders in Butner. I'd also recommend youngguns in Apex if you can find a time when John isn't behind the counter. Randy Young is a hell of a guy, John is an ass. Perry's in Wendell has been good to me too but they are a little leary of the whole black rifle thing. And too far to drive from "the 'boro." Yes the G20 and G21 are the same size. I have a Safariland 5183 for my G20 and have been very happy with it. For a hoster on a budget (I paid 35 from natchez) I think the safariland are hard to beat. |

I had a G-20 it was one of the best autopistols I have owned. I liked the 10mm but it was a little expensive and the deal breaker was the ammo availability, it was a major pita in my area. If the ammunition isn't a problem for you it's a great autopistol chambered for an excellent cartridge. |
| I have a Glock 20 that I carry while hunting. It has the 6" hunting barrel and I load it with Buffalo Bore ammo which is a 180 gr. Speer Gold Dot - J.H.P. (1,350fps/M.E. 728 ft.lbs.) out of a 5" gun. I put a Dawson Precision front sight on it along with a Heinie standard rear sight. |

I don't have a Glock 20 myself simply because finding 10mm ammo can be tough and getting a good price on 10mm is even tougher... It all depends what you want it for but I like my 45 ACP over the 10mm because of the ammo issue alone... Now that I got that out, a 10mm glock that the shop doesn't want... well for the right price HELL YEA I would buy it! I have become more practical in my personal collection but a full power 10mm is a serious round and with a 15-rd magazine that is very some serious firepower! |

I have a G20 and it is a great firearm. The 10mm ammo cost can be a drag, but a drop-in barrel chambered in 40S&W fixes that. The shorter .40S&W feeds out of the factory 10mm mags without a problem. I bought a Fed Ord barrel ($89) for mine and I was surprised how reliable and accurate the combination has been. Replacement barrels are available from several sources- Barsto, Jarvis, etc. They run about $200 from one of the better quality makers. You can also convert it to .357SIG if you choose. The recoil of the .40S&W round in the G20 is very soft. I wouldn't trust it to carry it for defense, but for range use why not?? To bring it back to "real" power, just drop the factory barrel back in it. A big +1 for Doubletap Ammo. That puts the snort back into the 10mm round! |

I had one, but sold it during the ban along with a bunch of non-neutered mags and a custom 1911 to buy a subgun. While I miss the Glock, I can buy one new for less than what I sold mine for. I have been using a Glock 29 as my carry gun until recently. Now that it is colder and I wear more clothes, I switched to a Delta Elite. I'm a big fan of the 10mm. |
