I am wondering if is possible to purchase a handgun in Florida if you are military stationed in Florida but not a Florida resident.  Back in MD if you were stationed in the state for 30+ days you could purchase a handgun.

Thanks for any help!

Call a local FL gun shop & ask? Be sure to ask one near a military base, IMO.

Yes you can actually.  I'm an Indiana resident, but I live here in Florida.  I buy handguns and rifles all the time.  You will have to wait the entire cooling off period even if you have a CWP.  That's the only reg I know.

Thanks for the info.  What do I need to take?  A copy of my orders stationing me in Florida or what?  I was told that I needed a Florida drivers license, but I'm in school right now, and you know how that goes... 0400 to 1900 is owned by uncle sam, no chance in getting a license any time soon.

You don't need anything from Florida.  If you have a drivers license bring that with you for sure.  A student ID will also help you out.  You might wanna call a dealer and ask if you need anything else.  They always take my Indiana drivers license and my Student ID.  It will be different for you i'm sure.  I don't think they will hassle you very much.  Good luck.  Watcha getting?
